The cold couldn’t stop ULI Dallas-Fort Worth last week!
YLG’s interactive walking tour of Hillwood’s Victory District and AT&T Discovery District was full of bright lights and cool sights!
We gathered at the newly developed Victory Commons One building with Hillwood to discuss the vision of the neighborhood. Ken Reese with Hillwood shared that long ago they took ownership of the area in order to create an environment that is welcoming and engaging with its residents and hopeful new tenants in their modern and “post pandemic” upgraded office building; with plans to continue developing office space in the area. They included a brief discussion on their unique partnership with DART to open the plaza corridor leading from Victory Station. Karch Schreiner lead us through a stunning tour of the brand new facility and highlighted some of the unique upgrades.
After touring the state-of-the-art building, we listened to our own Bud Melton discuss the importance and benefits of non-driving mobility design. We learned that Dallas-Fort Worth region is well on its way to nearly 2,000 miles of interconnected off-street trails and bikeways! These trails benefit all who utilize them from the surrounding built environments, which is economically impacted in a “Dallas BIG” way. We completed our discussion by walking a variety of sidewalks through Downtown to the AT&T Discovery District Plaza for a bonus tour and sneak-peak preview!
