Working closely with Fort Worth local officials and City staff, ULI launches two significant initiatives in Southeast Fort Worth.

Both are in the “Stop Six” area, named for its history as the sixth stop on the inter-urban streetcar that ran from Fort Worth to Dallas from 1902-1934. This area, once a thriving Black community, has suffered from disinvestment and a lack of new development in recent years.
Our first undertaking is assisting the Fort Worth Local Development Corporation (LDC) in contacting developers who are interested in creating a catalyst project on a 4 acre site owned by the LDC and located at 5401 & 5425 East Berry Street and Stalcup Road.
The LDC has issued a Request for Expressions of Interest (RFEI) for this project. The RFEI is soliciting capable development firms to explore public-private partnerships leading to the execution of a catalyst project for the area.
The full RFEI and other materials can be found on the City’s website, Fortworthtexas.gov on the Economic Development department page. The LDC is particularly interested in creative development programs and a compelling vision that features a mix of uses and design elements which maximize the potential of this urban infill site.
The catalyst project will be a key component in the redevelopment of this Urban Village. An overall plan for redevelopment has been completed and recently updated. To implement this ambitious plan, the City of Fort Worth and Fort Worth housing solutions have teamed up to obtain a $35 million HUD Choice Neighborhood Grant.
The City of Fort Worth is required to make infrastructure investments as a local match for the HUD grant. ULI DFW will be conducting a Technical Assistance Panel in early February to make recommendations for infrastructure projects that would make best use of this City funding, leading to a revitalized and sustainable neighborhood.
