October 25th Event to Recognize
Real Estate Career and Community Impact
The Urban Land Institute of North Texas will present its prestigious 2018 Vision Award to Roger Staubach, Executive Chairman of JLL Americas, on October 25, during the fourth annual Impact Awards Gala.
The announcement of this year’s Vision Award honoree was made by ULI North Texas Chair John Brownlee of HFF at the organization’s annual Capital Markets program on Tuesday, March 20.
“In this industry, there are a handful of names that everyone knows,” Brownlee noted. “Roger Staubach’s name is at the top of that list due to his success in building his real estate brand, his involvement in a wide range of community and charitable programs, and his early career with our own Dallas Cowboys. We are excited to be recognizing his outstanding career at our 2018 Impact Awards.”
A 1965 graduate of the United States Naval Academy, Roger served four years as a Navy officer. After the Navy he joined the Dallas Cowboys professional football team and launched his real estate career while playing football.
When Roger entered the commercial real estate industry in 1977 the concept of “user representation” was not widely practiced. He saw the potential in this idea and was committed from the outset that The Staubach Company would exclusively represent users of space. Prior to merging with JLL in 2008, The Staubach Company had become a leading global real estate advisory firm serving over 3,000 clients from 70 North American offices, overseeing transactions worth billions of dollars annually.
Previous recipients of the ULI Vision Award in North Texas are H. Ross Perot and Ross Perot Jr. (2015), the legacy of Trammell and Margaret Crow (2016), and Herbert Weitzman (2017). Proceeds from the gala will benefit educational and volunteer programs of ULI’s North Texas District Council, including the award-winning mentoring program, “Building Industry Leaders,” created by ULI’s Young Leaders in partnership with the Boys & Girls Clubs of Greater Dallas
In addition to the Vision Award, ULI presented Impact Awards in 4 distinct categories. Applications for these awards were reviewed by a jury of experienced ULI members from across the US and representing multiple disciplines within real estate. Submissions were accepted for any of the categories below:
Innovation: Recognizes originality and creativity in design, placemaking, support for transit use, green techniques, financing (including public/private partnerships), innovative land use or community planning, or other development features.
Influence: Seeks a project, policy or program that creates a positive impact beyond its immediate borders or catalyzes the development of the surrounding community, resulting in a lasting positive effect on the built environment.
Public Place: Highlights a public sector, non-profit, public/private partnership or privately funded project providing the public enhanced civic, open or public space access or experiences.
Next Big Idea: Submissions do not have to be completed projects! We seek innovative ideas that can positively impact the region’s quality of life, such as improving the quality of the built environment, the way in which planning and development are conducted, construction affordability, financing or other aspects of development. What would make our region more resilient? More enjoyable?
The gala Impact Awards event on October 25 will include a reception, seated dinner and awards program. For information on table purchases and sponsorships for the 2018 Impact Awards event, email firstname.lastname@example.org. Individual ticket sales will commence later in the year.
