The fifteenth in the series of Building Healthy Places Forums will be held in conjunction with ULI’s Fall Meeting in Dallas and will explore opportunities to build with nature, despite growing threats posed by wildfires, extreme heat and a changing climate. Join HKS' Julie Hiromoto​ and others as they lead panels and roundtable discussions, followed by a reception and networking opportunities.

Workplace Evolution: What Does the Office Look Like as Employees Physically Return?

Gracie Andraos​ will join a panel discussion about what’s happening as workers return to the office, how the work office and home office are compatible, and amenities to incentivize people to return to the work office. Panelists will discuss the Great Resignation, work hours and flexible location arrangements, as well as the perceived disconnect between expectations of smaller footprints compared to actual leasing activity.

Community-BLOC: A Community-Based Ecosystem that Supports Business and Life Continuity

Sheba Ross​ and Dr. Upali Nanda​ will discuss Community-BLOC, a concept based on years of research on vibrant and thriving urban environments and more recent science around the pandemic. The Community-BLOC has two modes: one designed for times of health and one designed to weather a health crisis. The ability to swiftly transform between these two ways of life will cultivate human, environmental and fiscal health. Agility and speed are key; embedding change into the design drives the overall concept.

HKS is hosting the ULI NEXT (Americas) Steering Committee Meeting, panel and roundtable discussions, and happy hour at our Dallas office.

Panel & Roundtable: 3:00 – 4:30 PM

Come connect with other mid-career professionals and meet the Americas NEXT leadership team to learn about ULI’s initiatives being undertaken to serve the District Council NEXT cohorts better. In addition, hear from local HKS Director of J.E.D.I., Yiselle Santos Rivera,​ who will offer insights into HKS’s diversity initiatives and kick off facilitated roundtable discussions with industry experts. Leonardo Gonzalez Sangri​ and Adelia Schleusz​ share how the Arlington Independent School District is changing the game with its new Center for the Visual and Performing Arts, which gives students across age levels and disciplines an opportunity to learn and perform like the pros. The district capitalized on the idea of creating a community venue, one that stretched its arms out to its city and placed the arts in Arlington on the same stage as the world-class entertainment venues nearby.
