    This year's Urban Outlook 2026 will spotlight overarching trends that will play out in 2026 and affect the real estate industry over time. Shifts in markets across the United States and structural changes in property types are integral to the conversation.

    Dr. Mark Dotzour, Real Estate Economist and our keynote speaker, will present and discuss current market conditions, including the outlook for job growth, interest rates, and inflation.

    Keynote Speaker

    Mark Dotzour

    Chief Economist & Director of Research, Texas A & M University

    Dr. Mark G. Dotzour is a real estate economist who served for 18 years as Chief Economist of the Real Estate Center at Texas A&M University in College Station. He has given over 1,800 presentations to over 345,000 people and has written over 90 articles for magazines and journals. His research findings have appeared in the Wall Street Journal, USA Today, Money Magazine and Business Week. His clients include banks, private equity firms, real estate investments trusts, construction firms, engineering companies, wealth managers, private foundations, and commercial and residential brokerage firms. He has also made presentations to local and national trade associations all over America. He makes complex economic issues easily understandable. Mark’s goal is to provide his audience with a “tool kit” of useful information that will help them make good business decisions for their families, their clients and their company. In 2015, Dotzour stepped down from his position at the Real Estate Center to focus all of his time and effort on analyzing current economic conditions and communicating his analysis to others. He combines academic training in economics, real estate, finance and history to make sense of current economic trends. After earning his PhD in finance and real estate from the University of Texas at Austin in 1987, Dotzour was a tenured professor of real estate and finance at Wichita State University in Wichita, Kansas for 10 years. Prior to his academic career, he was President of Gleneagles Development, Inc., which was a residential land development firm in Wichita. During this time, he also served as President of Dotzour Inc., Realtors, which was a residential brokerage firm in Wichita. Mark and LuAnn celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary in 2024, and have two children and two grandchildren. His father was a professional golfer. He and LuAnn spend a lot of time on the road, and they enjoy playing golf, exploring antique stores and old book stores.

    Meggie Lowy

    Hillwood, A Perot Company

    Meggie Lowy is a key financial strategist for the Hillwood portfolio, responsible for overseeing the finance team, providing tactical analysis, financing and due diligence for the company. She is also directly responsible for securing and negotiating debt and equity for new developments, refinancing for existing projects, as well as maintaining our debt and equity relationships. Since joining Hillwood in 2008, Lowy has sourced, negotiated and closed construction and permanent debt totaling over $1 billion. The diverse group of financings involved a variety of product types including multifamily, hotel, suburban and urban office, industrial, aviation, land, and retail as well as a variety of ownership structures. A resourceful team member, Lowy is highly skilled in gaining access to and readily understanding relevant points of data. With nearly 10 years of commercial real estate and investment finance experience, her expert analysis provides clear insight and discernment in evaluating investment opportunities for the company. Lowy graduated Magna Cum Laude from Texas A&M in 2005 with a B.S. in Economics and a minor in Business. She earned her Master’s in Commercial Real Estate and Land Economics from Texas A&M in 2007. While attending A&M, she obtained a Certificate of International Trade & Agriculture (CITA). She also graduated from the inaugural class of Leading Edge, the sister program to Leadership Fort Worth in 2009. In 2014 she graduated from UC Berkeley’s Women’s Executive Leadership Program. For her continued excellence, Lowy won the Fort Worth Business Press “40 under 40” award in 2017.
