THE VISION AWARD
Our prestigious Vision Award for 2021
honors the career and community involvement of:
Steve Van Amburgh
Chief Executive Officer
KDC
Steve Van Amburgh is known for having a passion for developing not just impressive buildings, but also a company culture of trust and empathy. For 20 years, Steve has led KDC as CEO, and prior to that spent 10 years in leadership with its predecessor, the Koll Company. Under his leadership, KDC has been named the NAIOP North Texas Developer of the Year six times and has received numerous Best Real Estate Deal awards from the Dallas Business Journal and DCEO. Named Best Boss in the Business by Real Estate Forum in 2016, his stated philosophy is “…surround yourself with the best people you can, get out of their way, and then let them do their job!” As a native North Texan, Steve has focused much of KDC’s work on transformative projects in the region, including CityLine in Richardson, the Toyota Motor North American Headquarters at Legacy in Plano, and The Epic in Deep Ellum. Outside of work, Steve invests his time in his “three F’s – Family, Faith and Friends.” Steve hopes to continue growing his philanthropic and faith-based endeavors in the years to come.

“Steve Van Amburgh is a living legend…
…North Texas has had its share of real estate titans, but Steve is easily on the Mount Rushmore of developers in North Texas. Steve took KDC from a fledgling start-up to a household name in a little more than 30 years, along the way completing some of the largest and most complex developments across North Texas. His career is a testament to the force of his personality, the unmatched breadth of his network, the unparalleled depth of his relationships and his uncompromising focus on client service. Steve’s imprint on the development landscape, as well as the careers of hundreds who have crossed his path, will reverberate for decades.”
