For the first time, the United Leaders United City (ULUC) Summer Leadership Development Conference was successfully launched at the University of North Texas at Dallas. The three-day event brought together 20 junior and senior high school students from across Dallas to receive training in core areas such as leadership, civic engagement, and the fundamentals of urban planning and community development—providing a roadmap for positively influencing their built environment, a key component of ULI’s mission and ULUCs goals.
The conference featured workshops, discussions, and project-based learning, one of which was utilizing ULI’s dynamic UrbanPlan. This immersive tool allowed students to engage with the real-world complexities of real estate ownership, development, and planning through hands-on simulations. Participants were encouraged to capture and share their experiences through photos and social media posts, to highlight their journeys on their respective school media channels.
ULI Dallas-Fort Worth educational committee volunteers, District champions, and Career and Technical Education (CTE) representatives played a vital role in student recruitment, program organization, and training. We extend our sincere thanks to them, and to the University of North Texas at Dallas, for hosting and supporting this impactful experience.
